Professor Jean-Pierre CHAVOIN has just published in Ed. Masson the book:
Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery
Basic Techniques

Plastic and reconstructive surgery corrects abnormal and functional impairment, repairs the damage caused by accidental or iatrogenic trauma. In this it is restorative and is reimbursed by our healthcare system. Conversely, aesthetic surgery offers a transformation of the normal for beauty and is not reimbursed by it.
This basic book addresses the ensemble of aesthetic and plastic surgery following major anatomical regions: head and neck, breast and chest, limbs, abdomen, pelvis and perineum. The first part describes the properties of the skin and healing, a point essential to understanding the techniques then developed: transplants, flaps, expansion, lipovariations and other abrasions.
The most proven interventions are described according to a rigorous plan detailing the indications, techniques, good results and possible complications. Each technique is vividly illustrated by a combination of drawings and photographs of clinical cases. The boxes “Practical Aspects” summarize the level of difficulty, expected time and refer to the common coding of medical procedures.
This manual of general plastic surgery is an educational tool for discovery or improvement for the trained plastic surgeons but also for practitioners in other surgical disciplines that collaborate with this specialty. Jean-Pierre Chavoin is a university professor, Chief of Plastic Surgery and burns, CHU Toulouse. He is President of the French Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

You can order it from Ed. Elsevier Masson SAS, 62 rue Camille Desmoulins, 92130 Issy-les-Moulineaux, France
