The first descriptions of skin grafting were found in India, around 800 BC; they were used to block the facial hole resulting from nose amputations. During the Renaissance, Ambroise Paré developed the suture and described its use and its instruments; and finally in the nineteenth century, science offers operative methods that put an end to the primitive and painful conditions. The Church strongly opposed the development of science and protested against the principle of manipulating the human body; the Republican morality did no appreciate this any better this unnecessary surgery but finally, in the twentieth century, faced with the necessity of surgery on "the broken faces" of the 14-18, aesthetic surgery finally found a respectable place in the medical profession.
The period between the two wars is a pivotal time, private clinics and offices at home develop there; there were some failures that were caused by too fast and too strong an infatuation with it.
Some cases went to the Criminal Court and in response, young surgeons organized the first professional societies, write the first legal texts, and gave a responsible structure to the discipline.
