Midface lift
Cosmetic Surgery - Plastic Surgery - Aesthetic Medicine - Reconstructive Surgery
The midface lift is a lift that acts on the lower eyelids, the tear
trough and the cheekbones. This and the cervicofacial lift are the two
techniques most frequently performed by aesthetic plastic surgeons. The
two lifts can be combined or not.
This type of facelift is not supported by either Social Security or
other health insurance. It is considered to be purely aesthetic
surgery.
The midface lift is not a procedure that may be suitable for all
patients and requires a thorough discussion between patient and
surgeon, undertaken, especially, in front of a mirror so that the
correction achieved by pulling up on the cheeks can be seen.
The midface lift is a surgical procedure performed alone or in
combination with lipostructure of the face or a neck lift, but also in
combination with non-surgical techniques such as laserbrasion,
dermabrasion, peels, medical treatment of wrinkles and Botulinum toxin
injections.
The purpose of a midface lift is to put the anatomical structures back into a younger position.
The midface lift is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, and it
is, like any surgical procedure, performed after preoperative
assessment and consultation with an anaesthesiologist. The midface lift
can be carried out under local anaesthesia in combination with
tranquilizers or classic general anaesthesia. The hospital stay
following a midface lift is either a period as an outpatient or a
hospital stay of 24 hours.
A midface lift is a surgical procedure the duration of which depends
on the surgical work to be done by the plastic surgeon. Each surgeon
uses his/her own technique that is adapted to each patient to get the
best result. It takes a period of six to eight weeks for the result to
be appreciated by the patient. You must wait six months after surgery
to allow time for healing (scars are inevitable, permanent, indelible
and unpredictable) and recovery of flexibility in the tissues.
The midface lift is a delicate surgical procedure requiring a lot of
rigour and with all the risks associated with any medical procedure
(anaesthesia and surgery) even when carried out under the most
favourable conditions, that is to say by a competent plastic surgeon.
Without overstating the risk, a proportion of risks exist. Turning to a
qualified plastic surgeon can prevent complications or help to treat
them effectively.
