Lifting

Cosmetic Surgery - Plastic Surgery - Aesthetic Medicine - Reconstructive Surgery

Lifting is a procedure, the main aim of which is the removal of wrinkles. In figurative terms is therefore becomes «rejuvenation" surgery.
Lifting is one of the main surgical procedures of aesthetic plastic surgery. It concerns mainly the face and neck, where excess skin has implications for the aesthetics of the face. This excess skin is not identical from one individual to another. It varies with age, facial structure and expression. Skin surplus will lead to distension of the forehead with dropping of the eyebrows, lowering and sagging of the cheeks,  furrows at  the wings of the nose and the corner of the lips (nasolabial furrows) become more pronounced. The jowls or cheeks hang down with a net loss of the jaw line. The neck becomes folded in the middle and then laterally. This is primarily due to aging, but sometimes the origin may be hereditary.

There are several types of lifts depending on the areas to be treated:

-face and neck lift or cervicofacial lift: this is a surgical correction performed to treat sagging and loosening of skin and muscles of the face (forehead and eyebrows, cheeks and jowls, jaw line) and neck. The purpose of a cervicofacial lift is to give the face an appearance identical to that which had several years previously.
-temporal lift: this lift corrects the signs of aging in  the frontal and cervicofacial regions and the lateral brow, smoothing crow’s feet and putting a mild tension on the skin of the outer part of the eyelids. It is often associated with eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty.
-midface lift: this is a facelift that acts on the lower eyelids, the tear troughs and the cheekbones.
Endoscopy has been adapted to aesthetic plastic surgery and reduces operative trauma and scars. There are two main procedures: the endoscopic facelift and the endoscopic frontotemporal or brow lift.

-inner thigh lift or crural lift: the aim is to tighten the skin of the inner thigh, remove excess skin and eliminate the underlying fatty infiltration.
-inner arm or brachial lift: identical operation but for the upper arm.
Lifting is a delicate surgical procedure, requiring a lot of rigour and with all the risks associated with any medical procedure (anaesthesia and surgery) even when carried out under the most favourable conditions, that is to say by a qualified plastic surgeon. Without overstating the risk, a proportion of risks exist. Turning to a qualified plastic surgeon can prevent complications or help to treat them effectively.
