Inner thighs
Cosmetic Surgery - Plastic Surgery - Aesthetic Medicine - Reconstructive Surgery
In human beings, the thigh joins the pelvis to the leg and its function
is primarily locomotive. The thigh is composed of a long and tough
bone, the femur and muscles: at the front. The femoral quadriceps
muscles; in the middle (in the inner thigh) the adductor muscles, and at
the back the hamstring. The thigh is criss-crossed by the femoral
vessels.
The inner thigh is the inside of the thigh where a significant
loosening of the skin may occur but bulges of fat may also be located
in this area.
In the case of localized fat deposits, there is a method of treating them, liposuction.
In the case of sagging skin on the inner thighs, liposuction is not
enough, it is necessary to perform a lift. This surgery is called inner
thigh lifting or a crural lift (plasty). The aim is to tighten the
skin of the inner thigh, remove excess skin and eliminate the
underlying fatty infiltration.
Health system financing for this type of intervention is limited to
corrective surgery after "weight loss for morbid obesity". In all the
other cases it is aesthetic surgery and is not supported by social
security.
Inner thigh lifting is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, and
is performed, like any surgical procedure, with preoperative assessment
and consultation with an anaesthesiologist. A crural lift can be done
under local anaesthesia in combination with sedatives or classic
general anaesthesia.
The period of hospitalization following an inner thigh lift is an average of 1 to 3 days.
The crural lift is a surgical procedure the duration of which depends
on the surgical work to be done by the plastic surgeon. Each surgeon
uses his/her own technique that is adapted to each patient to get the
best result.
It takes a period of 6 to 12 months for the result to be fully
appreciated by the patient. This is the time needed for healing (scars
are inevitable, permanent, indelible and unpredictable), and for
recovery of tissue flexibility.
The inner thigh lift is delicate surgery, requiring a lot of rigour
and carries all the risks associated with any medical procedure
(anaesthesia and surgery) even when done under the most favourable
conditions, that is to say by a competent plastic surgeon. Without
overstating the risk, a proportion of risks exist. Turning to a
qualified plastic surgeon can prevent complications or help to treat
them effectively.
There is also the inner arm or brachial lift which reduces excess skin and underlying fatty infiltration of the upper arm.
