Facelift (or Face and neck lift)
Cosmetic Surgery - Plastic Surgery - Aesthetic Medicine - Reconstructive Surgery
The face and neck lift or cervicofacial lift is a surgical correction
performed to treat sagging and loosening of the skin and muscles of the
face (forehead and eyebrows, cheeks and jowls, jaw line) and neck. The
purpose of a cervicofacial lift is to give the face an appearance
identical to that which had a few years previously .
This type of facelift is not supported by either Social Security or by
other health insurance. It is considered to be purely aesthetic
surgery.
The surgery performed during a cervicofacial lift involves two
actions, the first to put the muscles under tension and thus correct
their loosening; the second to redrape skin over the new shape to
achieve a new look that is as natural and durable as possible. .
Excess fat can be treated by liposuction. But the reverse can also be
done: in the case of a face that is too emaciated. This will be
corrected by re-injection of autologous fat. This is known as
lipostructure or lipofilling. The scars are mostly hidden in the hair
(forehead and nape of the neck) and around the ears.
A cervicofacial lift can be performed after the age of 40 or 45 when
there is a request, giving reasons and there are evident signs of
aging.
The cervicofacial lift is a procedure performed alone or in
combination with aesthetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or
correction of sagging forehead wrinkles (endoscopic forehead lift), but
also with medico-surgical techniques such as laserbrasion,
dermabrasion, peels, medical treatment of wrinkles and Botulinum toxin
injections.
The cervicofacial lift is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon,
and it is, like any surgical procedure, performed after preoperative
assessment and consultation with an anaesthesiologist. The
cervicofacial lift can be done under local anaesthesia in combination
with tranquilizers or classic general anaesthesia.
The period of hospitalization following a face and neck lift is an average of 1 to 2 days.
A cervicofacial lift is a procedure the duration of which depends on
the surgical work to be done by the plastic surgeon. Each surgeon uses
his/her own technique that is adapted to each patient so as to achieve
the best result.
It takes a period of 2 to 3 months for the result to be fully
appreciated by the patient. You must wait six months after surgery to
allow time for healing (scars are inevitable, permanent, indelible and
unpredictable) and recovery of flexibility in the tissues.
The face and neck lift is a delicate surgical procedure, requiring a
lot of rigour and with all the risks associated with any medical
procedure (anaesthesia and surgery) even when carried out under the
most favourable conditions, that is to say by a competent plastic
surgeon. Without overstating the risk, a proportion of risks exist.
Turning to a qualified plastic surgeon can prevent complications or
help to treat them effectively.
