Cosmetic Surgery - Plastic Surgery - Aesthetic Medicine - Reconstructive Surgery
Breast augmentation is a procedure the purpose of which
purpose is to correct breast volume where this is considered inadequate.
Augmentation is performed during surgery under general anaesthesia by a
specialized surgeon. It involves putting in place an implant perfectly selected
and tailored to each patient seeking this type of operation.
The implant comes in the form of an elastic envelope filled with silicone
gel. Its shape is said to be anatomical, that is to say "breast shaped".
The aim of breast augmentation is to enhance the breasts, altering them
naturally to a harmonious shape. .
Apart from the purely aesthetic, breast augmentation is indicated in the
event of three defects: congenital hypomastia (or lack of breasts), Poland's
syndrome (congenital malformation that can lead to disappearance of the
pectoralis major muscle and mammary agenesis) and tuberous breasts (breast
abnormality corresponding to defective development of the base of the breast).
