Plastic surgery is surgery to the skin, non-visceral soft tissue and walls.
It covers an immense area, which takes in tumours, trauma, burns, infections, necrosis, and malformation of the skin and soft tissue.
Hand surgery, breast surgery, surgery to the face and aesthetic surgery are branches of this specialism.
Professional Directory of plastic surgeons
A member of the Federation of Medical Specialisms, the Professional Directory of Plastic Surgeons (DPP) is the federal body for the specialism of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
Composed of the chairmen and secretaries of SOFCPRE, CFCPRE, and SNCPRE, the DPS has to coordinate the thinking and activities of the three professional bodies so as to become the preferred partner of public authorities, associations, groups and individuals on all matters concerning aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.

The aim of the French College of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery is to provide the training, both initial and on-going and to award competences. Its faculty members are scholars, who have a major role in initial training, but also non-academic liberal surgeons, who have a major role in continuing education.
